KMazing – Still looking for movies to watch? Or you are one that doesn’t want to waste your time to watch poorly directed movies like me? Well, luckily as movie lover myself I have crafted top 20 best movies of all time, I know it’s kinda generic looking from other list but it is ABSOLUTELY NOT guys.

The list contains movies from different genre and you might find one or two that are too sloppy for your taste or the rank is too low or high according to your standard. Well, how one perceived story is different as we have different perceptions so the list tends to change according to people to people, anyway let’s cut the crap and get on to the list. 20. Pulp Fiction (1994)

Pulp Fiction has a lot of fans, are you one of them? This film tells the story of the lives of two assassins, a boxer, a criminal’s wife, and some other interesting characters that you will not meet in other films. The film is directed by the famous director Quentin Tarantino was able to earn 1 Oscar and 60 other awards. Its 154-minute duration is enough to show 4 different pieces of themed stories and crime.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is an epic genre fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson and is the second series of the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings. The film tells the story of Frodo (Elijah Wood) who formed an alliance with others and go towards Mount Doom to destroy Sauron’s ring, in the sequel they are no longer together. They were divided and left Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) alone. For a little hope remaining, Frodo and Sam go to Mordor without the others. Meanwhile, the power of Sauron is growing by the time.

Memento (2000)

Memento is a Christopher Nolan directed film released in 2000. The film tells the story of a man suffering from anterograde amnesia making it difficult to make short-term memories. He tried to find his wife’s killer with the photos and notes he made to help him remember. The film stars Guy Pearce (Leonard Shelby), Carrie Anne Moss (Natalie), Joe Pantoliano (Teddy Gammel). The film earned 78 nominations at world film festivals as well as getting good respond from movie critics, 45 of which were won by the film. Unfortunately, despite being nominated in three Academy Award categories, namely, Best Film Editing, Best Writing, and Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen, Memento did not win the award.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is an epic fantasy movie released in 2011 directed by David Yates. The entire seven movie is an adaptation of the novel by J.K Rowling which was a sensation all over the globe. The ending of the long Harry Potter Universe was one of the most memorable parts of the entire movies that take on the story from the books.

Home Alone (1990)

Home Alone is one the best comedy film which was released in 1990. The movie stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, a son of a wealthy family. Kevin accidentally left behind by his family who goes on vacation to the city of Paris, France, to celebrate Christmas holidays. When he spends his time at home alone, he accidentally meets two stupid thieves who want to rob his house. So, to stop the thieves, Kevin prepared traps and set it all over the house for them.

A Separation (2011)

This Iranian film is the theme of middle-class society, family issues, to women. Do not assume this is a trivial movie because the situation in it will be possible when you become a smart woman, a mother, and wife. Departing from a husband and wife who want to apply for divorce, the reason the wife wants to move to another country so that their child can grow well. A Separation won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film in 2012.

Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back is a film produced in the United States and released in 1980. The film, directed by Irvin Kershner and released on May 21, 1980. The film tells the story of an ongoing adventure in the sequel “Star Wars”. The Episode V – The Empire Strike Back earned revenue of $ 534.1 – 538.4 million with a total production cost of $ 18 – 33 million.

12 Years a Slave (2013)

12 Years a Slave has a theme that based on a real-life story where gender discrimination is still hugely popular in America. The story follows Solomon Northup, a black man who was initially lucky. His life is different from the average dark-colored citizen, he can taste the world of education and success as a famous violinist.

Once Solomon was approached by two men who claimed to work as circus entrepreneurs and wanted Solomon to work as a musical accompaniment with a promise of a very high salary. But in fact Solomon was deceived, he became a victim of a kidnapping and sold as a slave in New Orleans. His name was changed and he was forced to accept the new name so as not to get a very sadistic torture. Solomon’s struggle is not easy, he must survive in order to return to his wife and two children.

A Beautiful Mind (2001)

The film tells of a genius mathematician named John Forbes Nash. He is a solitary, introverted, and shy person. Even so, Josh is very arrogant and proud of his intelligence. He refused to study at college because for him the lecture was just a waste of time. Instead, Josh more studied outside the classroom until he got a doctorate and was admitted to the prestigious research center, Wheeler Defense Lab at MIT.

Josh’s life changed when he asked by the Pentagon to break the code sent by the Soviet army. From there, Josh meets a secret agent named William Parcher who asks him to be a spy. More and more, Josh is increasingly teething with his work until he forgets time and lives in his own world. Until one day, Alicia Larde, a girl who later he married, knew that Josh had not had a friend named William Parcher. From that moment on, Josh began to calm down and Larde chose to take Josh to a mental hospital for treatment.

Braveheart (1995)

This film based on true story that takes the background of time when Britain came to power in Scotland in the 13th century. Told a man named William Wallace (Mel Gibson) who valiantly led the rebel forces to seize his native land, Scotland. With such courage, William quickly recognized and gained support from the people who joined the resistance.

William Wallace also invited the Scottish nobles to join in the struggle. The invitation was welcomed by Robert (Agus Mcfadven). William with his growing army had troubled the British. His rebellion led to his capture by the British after being framed by Robert’s father who committed treason. William gets the punishment and his spirit of struggle continued by the next king of Scotland, King Robert and managed to free Scotland.

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Saving Private Ryan is a movie that takes the theme of war. Directed by renowned Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg, and released in 1998. The film is included in one of the most famous films starring Tom Hanks who was then occupying the peak of popularity. Saving Private Ryan tells the story of the battle with a little flavored by elements of drama and of course action. The story itself follows a group of American soldiers led by Captain Miller (played by Tom Hanks). The group is assigned to save Private Ryan (played by Matt Damon) whose location is not known for certain.

Schindler’s List (1993)

The film is based on a true story of World War II. Oskar Schindler is a Pro-Nazi businessman who tries to take advantage of opportunities by opening a business of 1200 Jews as his workforce. In this film, Schindler kindly rescued almost all Jews during the Holocaust of World War II. The film was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won seven of them, including best film and best director.

The Dark Knight (2008)

The Dark Knight is a film released in 2008 and directed, produced, and written by Christopher Nolan. This film is an adaptation of the Batman character in the famous DC Comics series, The Dark Knight is the second part of the film Batman series by Nolan after Batman Begins in 2005. The Dark Knight tells of Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) as Batman who intends to dismantle the remaining criminal organization in Gotham city. But Batman’s efforts were hindered by a series of chaos that was neatly created and planned by a criminal psycho mastermind called The Joker played by Heath Ledger.

Titanic (1997)

Titanic is a romance-themed film and a disaster that was produced in 1997 and directed by James Cameron. This film tells the story of love between Jack and Rose (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) who comes from a different social status on board the RMS Titanic which sank on its maiden voyage on April 15, 1912. Titanic won 14 nominations during the Academy Awards in 1998 and won 11 of them, including Best Film and Best Director. The film is also crowned as the best-selling film of all time for 12 years and finally in early 201,0 Titanic was defeated by another James Cameron’s film entitled Avatar.

Forrest Gump (1994)

Forrest Gump is one of the best films released in 1994 based on Winston Groom’s novel. The film earned a total of 13 Academy Awards and nominations winning six of them, including Best Movie, Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), and Best Actor (Tom Hanks).

The film tells the life of a man with an IQ of 75, meets historical figures, influences pop culture and even participates in historic events without realizing how important the event is, due to his under-average intelligence. Note for the novel reader, The film is substantially different from the original work of the novel.

Fight Club (1999)

This film tells of a worker with psychological disorders that will lead to changes in his life. Starring Brad Pitt and supported by several other top actors such as Edward Norton, the movie with a duration of 3 hours 19 minutes was successfully received 10 Oscars and 31 Oscar nominations. So do not be surprised if Fight Club is one of the best movies of all time.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

The best film of all time and has a very good rating IMDB version is about a man named Andi who already have a family and success in his career as a chief executive. However, one day his wife was having an affair with another man, and unknowingly Andi also killed his wife. Though the film revenues were almost matching the production budget, the film was praised by various critics, including award nominations and best-selling movies on cable television.

Catch Me, If You Can (2002)

The film that was lifted from the true story is very successful and quite phenomenal in its day. Catch Me If You Can tells the story of an intelligent man named Frank Abagnale Jr. which is portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. When he was 19 years old, Frank had succeeded in fraudulent checks and earned millions of dollars in varying ways.

Frank himself is a young man from a troubled family. He decided to leave home and to survive, he learned to become an expert in faking a check. Fraud for the sake of the fraud he has done finally sniffed by the police and FBI agents. From there, Frank had to deal with an agent of the FBI envoy, Hanrraty (played by Tom Hanks), who was assigned to hunt him down.

The Matrix (1999)

The Matrix is a science fiction film, first released in the United States on March 31, 1999. The film was written and directed by the Wachowski brothers (Andy and Larry). The main characters are Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Hugo Weaving.

The Matrix generates revenues of US $ 171 million in the USA and $ 456 million worldwide. The director of the film did not expect the movie to be so successful and popular until it reaches the cult status that ends up being the reason behind the appearance of the continuation of the first film: The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.

Inception (2010)

And for the number one. Inception is one of the best science fiction thrillers of 2010 directed by Christopher Nolan. The film tells the story of Dom Cobb who is trying to retrieve information from his victims by getting into their dream and perceiving the thoughts of his victims. The dream becomes a space for the whole team to instill a certain thought into the brains of the victims. Inception received eight nominations in the 83rd Academy Awards, including Best Films and Best Original Screenplay, and won four awards for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound, Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects.
